The event is August 11-13 in Middleton, NH. Directions are on the website.
Our host band, The Rhythm Ship, has recruited twelve other musical acts to join them in a three-day celebration of peace, music, and minds. We are expecting more vendors this year, too. See the whole lineup!

Mindfest is a grassroots festival, and as always we will demonstrate our respect for each other
and Mother Earth. It is the most basic and enjoyable of demonstrations.
See you there!

Get On My Map, Bitches!
Takes like, a minute. Not nearly as long as listening to CozmiKast.
Snakes On A Plane
What a sensation. I haven’t wanted to see a film on opening night in a long time.
I love it.
2008
I’m getting kind of excited for the next presidential election: time for a change.
This image keeps coming to mind, over and over again, when I think about 2008.
Like the Clintons or not, see if this image doesn’t stick in your mind, too.
Yummy Delicious
What is this spontaneous renaissance of web innovation we’re going through? Anybody have any idea why this happening, or rather, why now?
My own progression as a web developer has lagged the web’s advancements, hard as I tried to keep up. More and more, I find myself relying on remote services (Flickr, or the yummy one I decided to join today, Del.icio.us), or, I end up installing existing codebases (WordPress for this very blog) to buttress my sagging abilities.
Amazing applications are being demonstrated everywhere and we want them: now. What really tempted my tummy today was my long-procrastinated evaluation of this “del.icio.us” site I’d been hearing about so much. Anything with that pretentious a name had to suck, I figured. But no; here was a fine example of elegant simplicity that did exactly what I needed. I had been imagining such a service-based link organizer for some time. Del.icio.us still needs to add private links and page caching (at time of post), but those two things would make the perfect app for me.
But again: why now? No one invention or technological advance comes to mind. Instead our best works emerge slowly and evolve just under our noses. Then one day we wake up and everybody is saying “Check it out: it’s the Web 2.0.”
Things are getting interesting. As though they weren’t before. Pink Floyd said it: welcome to machine.
Now if I only had time to get that podcast rolling… stay tuned. You can hear all this boring shit from the horse’s mouth pretty soon. (!)
What’s That In The Garden?
Mindfest Tickets on Sale
This is the first year we’re selling Mindfest tickets online. And we’ve already sold a handful. Fab! Can’t wait to see you all in Middleton, NH to hear some great tunes.
A Hotel to Suit a Souter
The recent Supreme Court decision regarding eminent domain says, in essence, that a local government may transfer private land from one owner to another if that transfer would result in greater tax revenues.
For the public good. Yeah, sure, okay.
Let’s see how the Justices themselves like it. Freestar Media, LLC, is applying to the Town of Weare, New Hampshire to build a hotel on the land of Justice David H. Souter.
The Town of Weare must be made to understand in no uncertain terms what a wealth of tax revenues would be coming their way if this hotel is built. Fax them at 603-529-4554 and let them know how excited you are by the rumour of the new “Lost Liberty Hotel”, and that you will be making your reservations as soon as its doors open. Be sure to mention your curiosity about Weare at large, and ask where else in town (restaurants? shops?) you can look forward to spending your vacation dollars.
Riding the Pacific Coast Hellway
Here’s a shout-back to author/podcaster Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff, who kindly mentioned myself and Garden of Blog on his weekdaily Pacific Coast Hellway podcast show.
Podcasts can be Reality Radio in its purest form, and Nemcoff does it as good as anyone. Recorded in the car during his daily commute, Pacific Coast Hellway features Nemcoff talking about whatever he feels like… and if another driver cuts him off to his profanity-laced chagrin, you’ll hear that, too.
I am completely entertained by Pacific Coast Hellway and other such independent radio shows (another fav: Fetish Flame, featuring a kinky couple calmly discussing their sexual escapades in the Bay Area). Completely off the FCC’s radar, these revolutionary syndicated programs are the undeniable future of audio in the Free World.
Want to tune in? I’d recommend iPodder, a user friendly podcast aggregator that should get you started fast. (And no, you do NOT need an iPod to enjoy podcast, just an internet connected computer and, preferably, a speedy wire).
It’s Easy Being Green
Wired just published an article on niche webhosting companies whose servers run on purely clean energy.
Worth looking into, especially for a site called Garden of Blog. I’ll post a follow-up on what I learn. This is a great idea.
Dig It
I should never have mentioned my senior thesis without linking to The Diggers.
Thanks for making my history a part of yours, guys. It is an honour.
