Bong Hits 4 Jesus

Posted in dear diarrhea by Marcus Del Greco on August 30th, 2006

Those who would like to suppress speech always end up disseminating that same speech by their pointing to it and screaming “inappropriate!”.  We never would have heard about this benign high school joke if the principal hadn’t taken offense.  Now we all get to laugh at it.

CNN.com - High court to get ‘Bong Hits 4 Jesus’ case? - Aug 29, 2006

It’s the same with Scholars for 9/11 Truth.  I wouldn’t even be thinking about the group this morning were it not for NH political whiners getting so ruffled over it.  Gee, maybe Bush DID let 9/11 happen!  Or maybe he planned it!

Aw, who the hell knows.  Everybody acts like they were personally involved in the forensic investigtion because they watched CNN, MSNBC or Fox ceaselessly for a month in 2001.  I’m not anxious to claim truth in any direction, on any topic, ever.  It’s okay not to know things for sure.

If only we could get Falwell behind the “Bong Hits 4 Jesus” campaign…

As for Scholars for 9/11 Truth regardless of the validity of some of their positions, the important part of the story is not the contents of the claims, but rather the fact that propents of alternative theories are being publicly shamed.

Evidence - at least, evidence that is accessible to the general public - of a link between the current U.S. regime and the 9/11 attacks is dodgy at best. However, there is a circumstantial case to be made based on financial and political gain to members of the administration (sometimes through family members, etc) and their materially interested cronies. The use of 9/11 as the American itieration of the Reichstag Fire.

The attempt to publicly shamw people who question the government by the government is nothing short of ludicrous. They can call woodward and this theories crazy if they’d like, but unless they want to present evidence and counter arguments, their thoughts on the matter don’t merit consideration.

Truth is not a matter of faith, it’s a matter of fact. As much as the Religious Reich might like to think so, Government is not a faith-based organization, the citizenry is not under obligation not to question the dogma and honesty of the government. I strongly believe that a failure to question the government would represent a failing of the American people to enforce the rights and liberties we granted ourselves in the Constitution.

couldn’t agree more with the other poster. also marcus, totally agree with your “ah, who the hell knows” comment.
everyone who’s read a magazine article is suddenly an expert. i can remember being frustrated in high school when you would
read a chapter on, say, the fall of rome. various possible reasons for the fall of rome were given. then the teacher would
ask, “why do YOU think rome fell?” how the hell do i know? all sound like pretty good theories to me…if a bunch of
historians can’t figure it out, how am i supposed from 20 minutes of reading a high school text? it’s like william goldman
    once said. nobody knows anything.

also, ken starr is an asshole.
